History
Livingston was named in honor of William Livingston, the first governor of New Jersey and a framer of the United States Constitution. Livingston served as governor for 13 terms before he died in 1790. The Force Homestead Museum, 366 South Livingston Avenue, is open to the public the second Sunday of each month for tours conducted by members of the Livingston Historical Society.

Livingston has terrific schools, with 48% of teachers with 10+ years of experience and 67% of teachers with 5+ years of experience. Over 70% of the teachers have Masters degrees and 4+% have doctorates. Livingston has a strong AP program with 30 AP courses offered. In 2016/2017, 11 Seniors were named Finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program, and 3 seniors received the prestigious distinction of National Merit Scholars.

Livingston offers wonderful sports and recreation activities for all ages! From swimming to baseball, basketball, tennis and more, there are youth sports of pretty much all varieties. And for adults, there are volleyball and softball leagues, pickup basketball games, and even softball and basketball umpire and referee clinics!
